Guidelines/Point Schedule

3 lambs per show will count for points. Members can show additional lambs and the points from the show will be averaged.

• NPCLA Breeder Sponsors are $75 for either black face or white face divisions, or $110 for both divisions. Sponsors will be listed in the Breeders Directory and on the NPCLA website, as well as receiving other publicity throughout sale and show season.

• Breeder Sponsors are eligible to consign lambs to The Circuit Breaker Sale held each year. Each Breeder Sponsor should try and solicit support sponsorships from area, state, and national companies. This money and/or actual prizes will be used towards sweepstakes prizes.

NPCLA Junior Memberships are $20 each year, and are available for youth up to age 21. A "family membership" may be purchased for families of three or more for $50. One membership fee will allow a member to show in all divisions: market lamb, white breed influence, and commercial ewes.

• There will be three divisions for lamb show sweepstakes: black face market lambs, white breed influence, and commercial ewes.

Only 2008 lambs may be shown during the 2008 show season. No fall 2007 lambs may be shown.

• For shows that include both NPCLA members and non-members, they will show together, but NPCLA points will be figured against other NPCLA lambs in each class.

• New Guidelines will be printed in time for The Circuit Breaker Sale and before the show season starts. It will be sent to all junior members, breeder sponsors, and other inquiring parties. It will also be distributed throughout the sale and show season. It will include the guidelines and rules for the Association, point system for sanctioned shows, Grand Finale information, tentative show schedule and contacts, a breeder sponsor directory, and other information related to the NPCLA.

• During the summer show season a newsletter will be sent to all junior members and breeder sponsors. These newsletters will include upcoming show information, point standings, and other information.

• A "Grand Finale" will be organized as the last show of the season. This weekend of activities will include a lamb show, All-Around contest, and year-end awards.

• The NPCLA expects ethical conduct of all its members and families. The NPCLA has the right to refuse membership to any exhibitor and/or family who have been disqualified from participation in any open, state, or national show.

• NPCLA sanctioned shows must pay a fee of $50. For their sanction fee they will get show publicity and more lamb numbers for their show. Tentative shows and contact persons will be included on the web page. As shows approach, detailed show information will be included in the Sideline Scoop Newsletter. The income from the sanctioned shows is used to help fund prizes for the year-end awards at the Grand Finale.

• In order for points to count Junior members must be present at the show and physically show their lambs.

• If a junior members has more than one lamb in a class or division the substitute showman must be 21 years old or younger in order for points to count.

• If a junior member chooses not to participate in the Saturday’s Grand Finale activities, they may still weigh-in on Sunday morning & participate in the Grand Finale Show.

White breed Influence Division
White Breed Influence (WBI) points will be allocated to a separate division. Members may receive points on up to 2 WBI lambs per show for this division. Members’ points will be tailed from their top 10 shows of the season. As long as there are two WBI lambs present at a show, there will be a separate division.

WBI Qualifications
This division includes Dorsets, Columbias, Rambouillets, Southdowns, and crosses from those listed. In order to qualify for the WBI division, lambs must have a minimum of 35% white on the face and legs. A few specks on the face or a little wool on the legs will NOT be sufficient. All WBI lambs will be classified at each show, and the decision of the committee will be final. If a lamb shows in the WBI division at a show or shows and is not screened, it may be subject to inspection at a later show. If the classification team determines the lamb does not meet WBI classifications, it will be removed from, the WBI division. The points the lamb earned in the WBI division will be erased and the lambs it showed against will move up in the point standings.
